The chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has written to OPM asking for a report on the status of recommendations from the GAO regarding the agency’s operations, including several urging strengthened IT security.
The letter follows a recent report by Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, critical of OPM’s performance before, during and after the breaches of personnel records and background investigation records.
He pointed to a recent GAO letter to the personnel agency highlighting recommendations, including some made in 2014 but still unresolved to ensure that contractor-operated systems comply with security and privacy standards, along with recommendations made earlier this year to beef up security controls in other ways.
