Federal Manager's Daily Report

The Chief Information Officers Council has issued guidance for agencies to produce enterprise architecture progress reports for 2007, which OMB now requires on a quarterly basis as part of the e-gov initiative of the President’s Management Agenda.

Agencies have been working with OMB to develop milestones for EA development over the next 15 months, but management against these milestones on a quarterly basis is meant to mature EA programs incrementally, according to the guidance.

It calls on agencies to develop EA milestones for the third quarter of fiscal 2007 by working collaboratively with OMB and to identify milestones and the evidence necessary to demonstrate completion of each milestone.

At the beginning of each quarter OMB will issue milestone templates and list EA milestones agencies have committed to complete in the current quarter and plan to complete in future quarters, which will be updated on an ongoing basis, the guidance said.

By the 60th day of each quarter agencies are to return their quarterly reports including evidence of completion and updated status, after which the federal EA program management office will provide feedback and assess agency progress scores for the e-gov portion of the traffic-light style PMA scorecard.

However, that assessment will not affect agency status scores for the initiative.

The guidance is available at the CIO council website.
