Federal Manager's Daily Report

In the fourth quarter this year satisfaction with federal government websites rose three percent to an aggregate score of 73.9 but the rate of increase has remained unchanged since the prior year for the first time, according to an index of e-government ratings produced by Ann Arbor-based ForeSee Results.

Its American Customer Satisfaction Index for e-gov showed that 44 percent of the 87 sites measured have higher scores this quarter than last quarter, in which only 25 percent of sites improved scores.

Government websites, while still lagging behind corporate sites in user satisfaction, are gaining on gaining on them in the areas of “department main site-portals” as well as “news-information” but that they continue to fall behind in the areas of ecommerce and transactions, ForeSee said in an analysis of the results.

It also said 18 of the sites are “top performers,” meaning they had scores of 80 or higher and that search and navigation functions remain top priorities for improvement for government sites.
