The Navy has reinstated the security clearance for a civilian advisor who criticized the Marine Corps for taking too long to provide troops with "mine resistant ambush protected’ – MRSP — vehicles to service members in Iraq, claiming deaths and injuries could have been avoided but for the delays.

Special Counsel Carolyn Lerner praised the decision by the Navy Central Adjudication Facility to remove the threat of an indefinite suspension without pay from Franz Gayl and reinstated his security clearance.

The Merit System Protection Board granted OSC’s request for a stay while it investigates Gayl’s claim of whistleblower retaliation.
