The Coast Guard has announced that it has entered a new agreement with the team of contractors carrying out the Integrated Deepwater System program.
Task orders were issued to ICGS, a joint venture between Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman, and extend from June 2007 to June 2011, a period dubbed "Award Term 1." ICGS got the original five-year contract in 2002.
"Changes in the terms and condition of the Award Term 1 contract better aligns the relationship between government and industry," said Rear Adm. Ronald J. Rábago, the IDS program executive officer.
He said the contract clearly defines government and industry roles in program management, requirements development, contracting actions, and compliance enforcement.
The new contract holds industry accountable for work performed under forthcoming delivery-task orders, and does not guarantee the award of any future delivery-task orders to ICGS, the Coast Guard said.
The program is intended to yield over 90 cutters and 195 aircraft, as well as new command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance equipment.
