
The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has approved:
HR-2662, to give agency IGs authority to subpoena former federal employees; require an administration to provide a “substantive rationale, including detailed and case-specific reasons” prior to removing an IG; limit the use of administrative leave for IGs, including during the 30 days following the removal announcement; require acting IGs to be selected from among senior-level employees within the watchdog community; and require regular training to IG employees on their whistleblower rights.
S-3035, to require OMB to set up an artificial intelligence hygiene working group of experts from across agencies to set standards for security, protection of civil rights and preventing the data from being appropriated by contractors or publicly posted, sold, or misused.
S-2274, to authorize the DHS Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to establish an apprenticeship program and to establish a pilot program on cybersecurity training for veterans and members of the armed forces transitioning to civilian life.
S-2793, to allow agencies to lease out underutilized properties, with GSA’s approval, and to use the rent payments to help fund capital projects and facilities maintenance.
S-2838, to require the GPO to maintain a public site with copies of all congressionally mandated reports by agencies.
