Federal Manager's Daily Report

The survey of managers and executives revealed that an agency-issued smart phone was the most commonly used technology, having been used by 72 percent in the prior week. That was followed by secure remote access to work systems, 60 percent, agency-provided collaboration/team online sharing tools, 58 percent, and workplace instant messaging, 49 percent.

Other agency-based technology is in much less use, however, including agency social media sites, 23 percent, agency-issued tablets, 21 percent, and cloud-based file sharing, 17 percent.

Also, 54 percent reported using a personally owned computer for work purposes and 46 percent reported the same of personally owned smart phones.

Just under 50 percent said digital technology has significantly improved their personal productivity and 43 percent said it has improved it, while 4 percent said it made no difference and the remainder said it harmed productivity.
