Federal Manager's Daily Report

The CIO Council has finished collecting data on aspects of the federal IT workforce, an area of particular concern in recent times due to widespread complaints that the government is not an attractive employer to those working in that high-demand field, with resulting effects on agency programs.

The council conducted a survey of the federal IT community and chief human capital officers, focusing on issues related to the hiring process. The results “will allow the administration, CIOs and CHCOs to jointly hone in on a narrower set of challenges by making actionable intelligence available,” according to an announcement from the CIO Council.

“Many challenges confront CIOs in this space, and the CIO Council’s Workforce Committee has engaged more on the issue to help tackle some of those challenges from a government-wide perspective using the best available data,” it said.
