Federal Manager's Daily Report

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee ranking member, Tom Davis, R-Va., has expressed support for the reauthorizations of the Merit Systems Protection Board and Office of Special Counsel, which have expired.

In comments on the President’s budget proposal, Davis said the Office of Government Ethics should also be reauthorized, especially considering additional proposed responsibilities called for in the Executive Branch Reform Act recently passed by the committee.

However he rejected a committee majority proposal to mandate the type of benefits private sector companies offer their employees when competing or federal work.

He said further restrictions on the competitive sourcing process would have the reverse effect of reducing competition by discouraging companies from bidding and increase costs.
