Federal Manager's Daily Report

Job opportunity announcements for enrollment in the 2013 class for the Presidential Management Fellows Program will be posted to USAJOBS on November 5, and applications must be submitted by November 19, OPM has said.

It noted that new regulations impacting the PMF program took effect on July 10, and that while the PMF website is in the process of being updated to reflect the new regulations, it does feature initial information about the class of 2013 application cycle.

The two-year paid government fellowship remains a prestigious program despite an embarrassing mistake last year in which OPM informed 300 applicants they had been accepted, when they had actually not qualified as finalists. Worse still, OPM acknowledges the "multi-phase" application process requires "patience and endurance" just to complete.

To begin an application, search for "Presidential Management Fellows" on USAJOBS on or after November 5. Eligible applicants must also complete the on-line assessment prior to the announcement closing. December 19 is the deadline for applicants to submit supporting documentation for any claims for veterans’ preference. By mid December applicants are notified of eligibility, semi-finalists are selected and notified, and then begin scheduling their in-person assessments.

In January/February 2013, in-person assessments are conducted for semi-finalists, then they are notified of finalist status by March. After successfully completing the program fellows may be converted to full time status.
