Federal Manager's Daily Report

DoD also designated the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) as the enterprise cloud service broker to help maintain mission assurance and information interoperability within this new strategy.

As broker, DISA will be charged with managing the use, performance and delivery of cloud services and in negotiating relationships between cloud providers and cloud consumers, DoD said, adding that DISA is tasked with making it easier, safer, and more productive to navigate, integrate, consume, extend and maintain cloud services, within the department, from other federal, and commercial cloud service providers.

DISA will enable DoD components to use commercial cloud services that meet the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program low and moderate control levels, and make them available to other DoD Components through standardized contracts and leveraged authorization packages, the department said.

It said DISA also would ensure compliance with information assurance and cybersecurity policies to include the on-going secure configuration, continuity, resiliency, and operations of these externally provided services, and help integrate commercial computer network defense operations with U.S. Cyber Command defense operations.
