President Bush has tapped a defense and aerospace consultant, Paul A. Schneider, to take on the role of management under secretary at DHS.
Schneider has served as a senior executive at DoD as well as the deputy director of NAVSEA’S auxiliary systems sub-group — and later as the executive director and senior civilian of the Naval Sea Systems Command and as the principal deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition, according to DHS.
It also said Schneider became the senior acquisition executive of the NSA in 2002 and has worked with the administration to develop and plan for upgrading the air transportation system.
Schneider, if confirmed, will succeed Scott Charbo, the department’s CIO who replaced Janet Hale, the former management head, on an interim basis.
