The Senate has confirmed the former chief security officer at General Electric as the new undersecretary for intelligence and analysis at DHS. Francis Taylor previously served as the assistant secretary of State for diplomatic security and director of the Office of Foreign Missions. Taylor has also served in the Air Force, most recently as the commander for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations from 1996 to 2001.

Dr. Reggie Brothers, who has served as deputy assistant secretary of defense for research since 2011, will take over as the under secretary for science and technology at DHS. From 2009 – 2011, Dr. Brothers was a BAE Systems director for mission applications and technical fellow, according to DHS. Dr. Brothers also served as a program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency from 2003 – 2007.

“The Senate has shown a strong commitment to DHS leadership by confirming seven senior positions across the department since December,” said DHS secretary Jeh Johnson, adding, “This is important progress, and a priority we must continue to be focused on.”
