The DoD has revised its Priority Placement Program to give higher priority to employees who had worked overseas, reverting to policies that had been in place before being changed in 2010.
The reversion to former policy is meant to encourage rotation of employees overseas and improve their chances that they will be placed with the same component, DoD said.
Since 2010, overseas employees without statutory return rights to a position in the United States, known as “ nondisplaced” employees have been referred through the PPP with a lower priority status. Due to the changes, they are now second only to employees separated by a RIF.
The PPP is a DoD-only program that is the counterpart to the Career Transition Assistance Program generally applying to other agencies.
