The Defense Finance and Accounting Service has assumed payroll responsibility for all employees of the Department of Health and Human Services, part of the administration’s e-Gov initiative to consolidate certain internal and external government services.
HHS employees can now receive pay summaries, alerts and tax
documents electronically via DFAS’ secure online system,
myPay.
The transition of approximately 64,000 HHS employees to
DFAS pay services, which began more than a year ago, is the
largest conversion of federal employees from one payroll
system to another under the Office of Personnel Management’s
e-Payroll project, according to DFAS.
e-Payroll is focused on consolidating and standardizing such
services throughout the federal government. DFAS is one of
four federal payroll providers selected by OPM to provide
payroll services to departments and agencies within the
executive branch.
