Federal Manager's Daily Report

The Commissioner of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Stuart Ishimaru, has announced that he will resign his post this month. Ishimaru was nominated by George W. Bush in 2003 and is serving his second term, which is set to expire July 1.

The commission credited Ishimaru for working to reinvigorate the agency’s emphasis on race discrimination issues and for playing a key role in developing guidance and best practices to help employers avoid engaging in gender and disability discrimination against workers who have care-giving responsibilities.

The EEOC said Ishimaru invested agency resources heavily in training to equip EEOC employees with skills and knowledge needed to investigate and litigate large and complex discrimination cases to bring about positive change in entire companies and industries.
