Federal Manager's Daily Report

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is hiring investigators, mediators, attorneys and administrative and clerical positions around the country, according to a notice published on its website.

It said it needs investigators to handle inquires and complaints, judges and clerks to handle civil rights cases and appeals, mediators that process charges through the alternative dispute resolution process to settlement, and admin and clerical support to man the phones and take care of correspondence and document management.

The simple notice – highlighted in blue with an emblazoned “NOW!” is meant to grab attention and augment efforts through USAJOBS, where the actual vacancies are listed. OPM and numerous other bodies have issued recommendations in recent months to get agencies to do more than simply list vacancies on USAJOBS to attract candidates.

Most agencies have links to job information on their sites, but few have a prominent link meant to grab the attention of a potential applicant.

According to EEOC, it’s also hiring senior executives, including most managerial, supervisory and policy positions classified above GS-15 or equivalent. Those interested would be working under the incoming EEOC chair, Jacqueline Berrien, a NAAP legal defense fund and educational fund attorney.
