
The annual report on Federal Executive Boards for 2022 highlights their role in emergency preparedness and safety for federal employees, along with workforce development and workplace considerations related to a hybrid work environment.
During the year FEBS hosted eight emergency preparedness exercises with over some 1,600 participants including training on topics such as active shooter situations, cyber events, natural disasters, evacuations and emergency communications. They also conducted 32 training workshops with some 2,000 participants, and provided other training opportunities to some 18,000 federal employees, according to the report at feb.gov.
The 28 FEBs nationwide are centered in major cities and some smaller ones with large federal populations, and consist of executives of the differing agencies in an area. They also sponsor agency award programs and coordinate cross-agency programs including recruiting events, the Combined Federal Campaign and food and blood donation drives.
The report also shows that in a survey FEB board members gave the program high marks on topics such as helping employees gain skills, interagency collaboration, benefits to the agency, and personal career development as a senior leader.
