Federal Manager's Daily Report

In a move designed to give managers another recruiting option while supporting military families the FAA has announced that it is taking steps to make it easier to hire military spouses for permanent jobs, in some cases non-competitively.

It said applicants for this special appointment authority must meet all of the qualifications for the job and that basically the new policy covers people whose spouses are on "full-time duty in an armed force" when the service member receives orders that authorize a permanent change of station move and the spouse relocates with them.

However in some cases the policy applies to retirees or separated military with a disability rating of 100 percent.

The FAA also has announced the launch of a website to help disabled persons join the workforce. The site provides specific information to prospective applicants with disabilities on the different hiring processes used within FAA. That site can be accessed through FAA’s Office of Civil Rights website.
