Federal Manager's Daily Report

New project starts at federal facilities—meaning facility design and construction—must meet standards for promoting friendly environments for bees and other pollinators, under pending revisions to GSA facilities standards.

The initiative follows a June presidential memo directing GSA to make federal landscape and site maintenance guidelines more amenable to pollinators. The standards will encourage use of various plant material to assure that flowers are present through growing season.

The guidelines are undergoing an internal review and comment process and eventually will be incorporated into the formal P-100 facilities standards, GSA said.
