Federal Manager's Daily Report

OPM has authorized the heads of federal departments and agencies to allow a special solicitation of employees at the workplace in support of Haiti relief efforts.

Doing so would permit employees to make a donation by cash or check, outside normal Combined Federal Campaign procedures covering the workplace.

"To make it easier for federal workers to give, I am authorizing department and agency heads to allow a special solicitation of federal employees at the workplace to support Haiti in its time of extraordinary need," OPM director John Berry wrote in a letter to department and agency heads.

According to OPM, special solicitations by federal departments and agencies are the best way for their employees to provide relief assistance through the workplace, although employees can of course give directly to charities involved in relief efforts, regardless of whether the charities participated in their local CFC.
