The Partnership for Public Service has announced that it is in the process of absorbing programs and staff from the Council in for Excellence in Government, in a sort of not-for-profit takeover.
As the Council’s chair, John Macomber, explained, "the current economic climate has made it extremely difficult to raise the funding required to continue and grow these vital programs."
The Council has been in operation for 25 years, and merging the two groups will consolidate resources and expand the Partnership’s offerings, PPS said in a statement.
In addition to the Council’s employees, the Partnership will be taking on its Fellows program, which has trained over 2,700 mid-level federal employees, as well as its Senior Advisors to Government Executives program.
Currently, the Partnership’s programs include its Presidential Management Initiative, Best Places to Work in the Federal Government rankings, Annenberg Leadership Institute, a Call to Serve initiative for college and university students, a FedExperience program connecting baby boomers with encore federal careers, and the Service to America Medals.
