Federal Manager's Daily Report

GSA has announced the formation of a new government-wide travel advisory committee as part of a wider effort to implement more transparent travel regulations and policies.

It said it would begin accepting applications for the new committee, which is to review existing travel policies, processes and procedures for federal government travelers, beginning with the methodology by which annual adjustments are made to the federal per diem rate.

The committee’s members will be drawn from the travel industry, local and state governments, travel and convention bureaus, and representatives from corporations and the federal government, GSA said.

It said the committee – to be housed within GSA’s Office of Governmentwide Policy – would also address current industry and federal travel trends while also providing advice and recommendations for improvements that will increase travel efficiency and effectiveness, reduce costs, promote sustainability, and incorporate industry best practices.
