The Government Printing Office and the National Archives’ Office of the Federal Register have been recognize for innovative use of public key infrastructure in authenticating electronic submissions to the Federal Register.

According to GPO, the agencies received a Business Value Award from the Four Bridges Forum, an online authentication coalition that counts as members major federal agencies as well as aerospace and defense contractors, healthcare industries and colleges and universities.

GPO and the Federal Register use public key infrastructure certificates and digital signatures to assure that the content electronically submitted and filed by federal agencies for publication in the Federal Register is authentic, while reducing costs, eliminating paper use and speeding up the publishing timeline, GPO said.
