Federal Manager's Daily Report

GSA has announced that a six month collaboration with a coalition of federal agencies and websites such as YouTube and the popular photo sharing website Flickr have yielded agreements that will allow agencies to use a variety of "new media" and social networking tools to help carry out their missions.

"We need to get official information out to sites where people are already visiting and encourage them to interact with their government," said GSA acting administrator Paul Prouty.

"The new agreements make it easier for the government to provide official information to citizens via their method of choice," he added.

GSA is negotiating with several other new media companies and said agencies that want to use these services, for example Twitter, though which people sign up to receive brief but constant updates from a given source, can choose to sign the same agreements.
