GSA has announced plans to realign resources within the Assisted Acquisition Service, a part of the Federal Acquisition Service that provides acquisition, technical and project management services for other agencies.
The plan entails moving about 250 employees to other positions within FAS or other parts of the agency, but FAS is not planning to submit any early out or buyout requests and reductions in force are not in the cards either, according to GSA.
"While AAS’s revenues remain strong, our resources are not properly aligned with our current level of business," said FAS commissioner Jim Williams, adding that, "we are taking steps to reduce our expenses."
GSA also said FAS is expanding services into both pre-award and post-award acquisition services for agencies for internal acquisitions and assisting agencies with new contracts, namely those through VETS GWAC, Networx, SATCOM-II, HSPD-12, Alliant, Alliant SB, and the IT Expanded Direct Delivery program.
