IT professionals throughout the government gathered recently in Chicago for a GSA network services conference, something GSA said was intended to demonstrate how its IT products and services can leverage technology to make government more efficient, secure and transparent.
The event featured GSA’s Office of Integrated Technology Services’ portfolio of network services, products, and solutions, as well as GSA experts to help agencies identify and meet their telecom needs for the next decade.
Federal Acquisition Service commissioner James Williams said the conference was intended to show "how the latest network technologies and services can enable a fully interoperable and secure government IT infrastructure."
GSA also recently announced a partnership with the Defense Information Systems Agency to create a common marketplace for commercial satellite communication services for defense and civilian agencies, as well as state, local and tribal governments.
The value of the program is expected to pass $5 billion over 10 years.
"This innovative partnership will provide customers with a single platform for accessing critical communications services," Williams said.
