GSA has announced new airfares under its City Pair program for 2014 that it says could save the federal government about $2.2 billion a year.
It said the program is expanding its reach, increasing available routes by 25 percent to more than 6,300 destinations, with rates up to 59 percent off commercial prices, and average one-way ticket prices for domestic flights down 4 percent and international rates down 7 percent from this year.
Non-stop flights have been expanded by 20 percent to 1,887 routes, and for the upcoming year the program retained the ability to allow federal travelers to book one-way, multi-leg, and round-trip airfare at the lowest cost possible, while retaining the ability to adjust or cancel flights at no additional cost to the government, GSA said, adding that more secondary markets will be available in 2014 as well.
