GSA has announced next steps in the process of finding a new headquarters for the FBI, having issued an advertisement for Expressions of Interest to landowners requesting that they offer a parcel of land in the District of Columbia or the surrounding counties in Maryland and Virginia.
The agency is accepting site proposals through December 17, with the procurement process expected to conclude sometime in 2015. GSA said that it would include one or more of the sites in a future procurement that would allow it to exchange the existing headquarters in the J. Edgar Hoover building on Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington, D.C. for a new facility that can accommodate the FBI’s headquarters operations and allow it to consolidate into one location.
Last March, GSA said it received 38 responses from the development community about exchanging the J. Edgar Hoover building, for a new, consolidated headquarters – and is using the input to outline its future procurement.
