Federal Manager's Daily Report

GSA has announced a partnership with the National Academy of Public Administration and the American Council for Technology and Industry to get ideas about how it can leverage new media tools to improve the acquisition process.

It said the goal of the "better buy project" is to use collaborative technology to make the federal acquisition process more open, transparent, and participatory, and that a project team is inviting the public to submit ideas for improving the acquisition process at www.betterbuyproject.com.

The website allows people to comment and vote on submissions, and GSA said it would select promising ideas and pilot them in upcoming acquisitions.

"The federal acquisition process represents one of the most important and complex areas of collaboration between government and the private sector," said Mary Davie, the assistant commissioner of the office of assisted acquisition services, which is spearheading the effort.
