GSA maintains a Sustainable Facilities Tool website (www.sftool.gov) that can help facilities managers, procurement professionals, leasing specialists and project managers meet sustainability planning, designing, and procurement goals.

Federal agencies are required under a 2009 executive order to develop, implement and annually update a plan to meet emissions, energy, water, and waste reduction targets.

The site is a place to begin researching solutions and even placing an order – for example, by understanding and comparing options, then clicking through to place product orders on GSA Advantage.

The website provides background and language covering sustainable options to help inform decision-making. Modeling and interactive diagrams provide an overview of building systems as they relate to sustainability issues of efficiency and modification. It also offers some procedural guidance for coming up with plans and solutions.
