OPM has said that some 300 federal managers, HR officials and others involved in the hiring process have been trained under its Hiring Excellence initiative announced earlier this year and that the training will be broadened significantly in the time ahead.
The in-person training aspect will be held in 33 cities over the next year, officials said, noting that training through the program also is available online.
Focus areas include: improved collaboration between HR staffs and hiring managers; leveraging data from USAJOBS to understand the skill set of the applicant pool and improve recruitment strategies; information about how to target outreach through social media, niche groups, and diversity resources; education on alternative methods of assessing candidates and alternative hiring authorities; tools to help create a diverse and inclusive workplace culture; and upgrades to USAJOBS to make it more user-friendly.
