The House has passed a series of bills focusing on IRS management and employee-related policies:
HR-5438, to allow employees to provide to taxpayers information regarding low-income taxpayer clinics.
HR-5439, to provide for a single point of contact at the Internal Revenue Service for the taxpayers who are victims of tax-related identity theft.
HR-4440, to require notice from the Secretary of the Treasury in the case of any closure of a Taxpayer Assistance Center.
HR-5444, to require the IRS to submit a reorganization plan and a customer service plan to Congress, to establish an Independent Office of Appeals to resolve tax controversies and review administrative decisions, and to revise enforcement procedures.
HR-5445, to establish the position of chief information officer and set new standards for cybersecurity, the protection of taxpayer identities, the agency’s information technology, and electronic systems.
