Initiatives for customer service and cybersecurity have received the latest round of funding from the central Technology Modernization Fund managed by the GSA, bringing obligations from that fund above $750 million, the GSA has said.
The fund, which recently marked its fifth year of existence, provides agencies with up-front money to make major upgrades rather than continuing to maintain legacy systems because of inadequate annual funding to do more.
The latest round of funding is:
• $16.2 million for the National Transportation Safety Board “to build a unified digital experience that makes it easy to find, understand, and use information related to investigations and safety recommendations, is backed by comprehensive data sets, and includes all related content.”
• $9.2 million to the Bureau of Land Management “to increase the number of land records available online and enhance the search functionality on its General Land Office website.”
• $15.2 million to the Labor Department “to accelerate the implementation and deployment of a cloud-based security framework to provide connectivity, consistent security, and optimized user experience to its employees, partners, and the public.”
• $7.4 million to the VA “to help the VA tackle the digitization of forms at scale using a centralized approach with improved personalization and better visualization of key information.”
• $2.5 million to the EPA to improve security of its Analytical Radiation Data System.
