The Office of Administration in the White House has announced that a software engineering internship program it piloted this summer is catching on in popularity after its four-person “software automation and technology team” – SWAT team — successfully tackled 40 projects.
Brook Colangelo, CIO in the Office of Administration said the SWAT team was the idea of OA intern David Gobaud, and “revolutionized our business process support and software development services.”
In part, OA is responsible for providing the White House and its components such as OMB and the Office of Science and Technology Policy with advanced technology and oversight of the White House’s unclassified network.
According to Colangelo, the interns met with customers and “used an agile development approach and cloud based rapid development platforms” as well as “analyzed our complex human capital management system and made valuable recommendations on how to improve, streamline, and optimize the system and related business processes.”
