Federal Manager's Daily Report

The Justice Department IG’s office has told Congress that it will release summaries of personnel-related investigations on its public website, a reaction to criticisms from Capitol Hill that federal officials are not being held accountable for misconduct.

The office said it will post information regarding misconduct cases involving SES members and others at the GS-15 grade or above and assistant U.S. Attorneys, where the IG found misconduct but no prosecution resulted, as well as other high-profile investigations and those in which there may be significant public interest.

While the decision applies only at Justice, the move could spread to other agencies, since the department’s IG, Michael Horowitz, chairs the interagency IG Council on Integrity and Efficiency.
