Margaret Weichert, who has been the Trump administration’s key officials on federal management and personnel policies, has announced her intention to return to the private sector in March.
As deputy OMB director for management, Weichert has been the main public face for the President’s Management Agenda, its agency reorganization plans and the policies of the 2018 executive orders on disciplinary and union related matters.
In addition to her OMB role she was acting OPM director for about 12 months until last fall, replacing the former OPM director who resigned over differences including the administration’s proposed transfer of OPM’s operating divisions to the GSA and its policy functions to OMB.
Weichert, formerly with the Ernst & Young accounting and consulting firm, reportedly will be joining the Accenture firm. There has been no immediate word on her potential replacement.
