By: FEDweek StaffPerformance.gov has posted what it calls the last of the quarterly updates on the Biden administration’s President’s Management Agenda, highlighting several hiring initiatives under the priority item of strengthening the federal workforce.
That included issuance of a joint OMB-OPM on improving federal hiring practices, focusing on improving the experience for applicants—including current federal employees seeking to change jobs—and for managers and HR officials involved in the hiring process; the launch of a federal hiring experience learning series to support adoption; and hosting a symposium on hiring initiatives and conducting training for HR Specialists and hiring managers on available technology solutions.
It also cited a revised “career explorer” tool on usajobs.gov to help job seekers “identify suitable federal positions by matching their interests to relevant job opportunities through a brief questionnaire”; and the launch of a hiring campaign in STEM fields, especially for cybersecurity.
Under the enhancing the customer experience priority, it cited continued work on the State Department’s online passport renewal service and the IRS’s online tax return filing service, along with work on cross-agency “life experiences” services.
Under the managing the business of government priority, it cited work to strengthen the resilience of domestic supply chains, guidance encouraging the acquisition workforce to adopt innovative practices, and an initiative to simplify the grants process.
“While this will be the last set of regular quarterly public updates to this PMA, PMA teams will continue to work on achieving their final milestones through January 2025,” it says.
