Federal Manager's Daily Report

NASA has announced a comprehensive restructuring of its Washington D.C. headquarters to reflect a new exploration agenda outlined by President Bush. The management alignment echoes as well the ongoing changes arising from the Columbia Accident Investigation Board, said NASA Deputy Administrator Frederick D. Gregory.

The alignment will immediately impact NASA management, the strategic enterprises and the agency’s functional offices.

A new Office of Aeronautics is devoted to aviation research and aeronautics technologies for civil and defense interests, and the Office of the NASA administrator will allow for more independent leadership, said the agency.

NASA said it would address staffing requirements, resource allocations and leadership later in the year for new offices including one for the chief engineer, health and medical systems, the chief information officer, and for institutional and corporate management.
