DHS management has not resolved within six months 94 recommendations of 29 past audit and investigative reports, the DHS IG has said.
More than a third of those recommendations, 39 of them, flow from the independent auditors’ report on the department’s financial statements and internal controls over financial reporting, while another eight came from the audit of financial statements specifically at the Customs and Border Protection component.
Most other reports listed had only several unresolved recommendations. By topic, they included management of overseas operations; IT management; fraud detection; securing laptops and wireless networks; continuity and contingency planning; grant program awards; and others.
