Federal agencies seeking to add business school masters grads
to their employment rolls should know that beginning salaries
for these trained personnel are trending way up, a reflection
of increased demand for their services worldwide. Expected
recruitment demand likely will be up 10 percent for the year
and another 15 percent next year, according to TopMBA.com,
which tracks such trends.
The average beginning salary for MBA grads is $82,000, and
signing bonuses can range from $20,000 to $30,000. The
amount paid to new talent varies by industry or specialty,
as well. In finance, average starter pay is just shy of
$100,000, up about 20 percent over 2003. The average pay
for new MBAs in management consulting has risen to about
$86,000, up about 16 percent over the previous year, the
online information site said.
Technology companies are big competitors for top MBA talent,
with British Telecom, Cisco, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IMB,
Microsoft, Philips, Sprint and Vodafone topping the hiring
list.
