The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has
announced that it broke ground on its new shared services
center at the Stennis Space Center on the Mississippi Gulf
Coast, designed to provide agency centralized administrative
processing, HR, procurement and financial services.
Computer Sciences Corporation, headquartered in El Segundo,
Calif., was awarded a contract last May with a five-year base
period and five one-year options that the company said could
be worth $230 million.
It said under the agreement it would support about 20,000
agency employees, applicants, contractors and university
partners. The agency said the center would eventually employ
500 contractors and civil servants.
