Federal Manager's Daily Report

The incoming chairman of the House Government Reform Committee, Henry Waxman, D-Calif., has announced plans for a new committee structure for the 110th Congress.

“My goal is to consolidate the jurisdictions of some of the subcommittees so that the jurisdiction of each subcommittee will have broad appeal and will engage the attention of the subcommittee members,” Waxman said in a recent letter to committee members.

In the letter he proposed establishing five subcommittees, rather than the current seven, to include committees for: National Security and International Relations; Domestic Policy — to include the Office of National Drug Control Policy; Federal Workforce, Post Office, and the District of Columbia; Government Management, Organization, and Procurement, which would cover property and intergovernmental relations; and, Information Policy, Census, and National Archives.
