Federal Manager's Daily Report

Meanwhile, the Justice Department’s Office of Information Policy has developed new FOIA resources designed to train all federal employees on the law and their responsibilities under it.

While the office is best known for training of FOIA professionals, it also provides training to others, as do individual employing agencies. The new resources are designed for those from senior executives through the ranks of whose records might become subject to a request and include:

* an e-Learning training module for the everyday federal employee that provides a primer on the FOIA and highlights ways in which they can assist their agency in administering the law;

* a video aimed at senior executives providing a general overview of the FOIA and emphasizing the importance of their support to their agency’s FOIA program;

* an e-Learning training module designed for FOIA professionals which addresses all the major requirements of the law, as well as customer service; and

* and an infographic that can serve as a resource on FOIA basics for all employees new to the federal workforce.
