Federal Manager's Daily Report

The White House has opted to eliminate the monetary benefits that come along with the Presidential Rank Awards – which can be up to 35 percent of an SES salary – because of the tight budget environment.

OPM issued a memo recently attempting to clarify administration of the awards for fiscal 2013 because it says some agencies may have decided not to submit any nominations because they were not aware that Rank Award nominees could also be considered for some alternative non-monetary presidential recognition.

OPM briefly extended the award nomination period – it now has expired — and said additional guidance would be forthcoming on the vetting process for fiscal 2013 awards or alternative non-monetary recognition.
