The Army is soliciting nominees for two of the most prestigious
annual awards for civilian employees working there, the
William H. Kushnick Award, which recognizes the most
outstanding singular achievement of an Army employee working
in civilian human resource management, and the John W. Macy,
Jr. Award, which recognizes demonstrated excellence in the
leadership of Army civilians by an Army supervisor or
manager. Nomination packages, details of which are contained
in the memo, must be endorsed by major Army command (MACOM)
Commanders and received by the Office of the Assistant G-1
for Civilian Personnel, Program Support Division, ATTN:
DAPE-CP (Ms. Elaine Swearingen), by close of business on
January 31, 2006.
Meanwhile the George Washington University and the Arthur
S. Flemming Awards Commission are seeking nominations for
the Arthur S. Flemming Awards, which recognize federal
employees who have made outstanding contributions to public
service. Twelve awards will be presented, four in each of
the three categories: science, administration, and applied
science and mathematics. Examples of contributions include,
but are not limited to, achievements that can be shown to
have exceeded expectations, significant cost
savings/avoidance, and substantial improvements in the
quality of service to the public or in project/program
effectiveness or efficiency. Additional information about
