The Defense Department is seeking nominees for the new
David O. Cooke Excellence in Public Administration Award,
which was created in honor of the late David O. Cooke,
a longtime prominent Pentagon official who at his death
was the director for administration and management in
the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Nominees will be
evaluated for commitment to public service and
demonstration of an inspiring degree of personal and
professional integrity. Current career service employees
of DoD who demonstrate leadership potential as a future
federal executive are eligible for nomination.
DoD also is seeking nominees for the Distinguished
Civilian Service, an annual award presented by the
Secretary of Defense to DoD civilian employees whose
careers reflect exceptional devotion to duty and extremely
significant contributions of broad scope to the
efficiency, economy, or other improvement in the operations
of DoD.
Nominations must be submitted through command channels,
which have information about detailed eligibility
criteria, application procedures and deadlines.
