The NTEU has elected as its new president Doreen Greenwald, a longtime local leader and formerly the national executive vice president, on the retirement of Tony Reardon.

An NTEU statement said: “Greenwald had a long and successful career as a frontline federal employee with the IRS in her home state of Wisconsin, including 21 years as a revenue officer. She joined NTEU in 1985 and rose through the ranks of her local chapter to become president of NTEU Chapter 1 (IRS Wisconsin), a post she held for 14 years. She has extensive experience negotiating national collective bargaining agreements between NTEU and the IRS, recruiting new members and representing IRS employees across Wisconsin.”

“After retiring from the IRS, Greenwald moved to Washington in 2020 to join the NTEU staff as special assistant to the national president, where she led the union’s COVID-19 response team and worked with chapter leaders from many different federal agencies with employees represented by NTEU,” it said.

Delegates at the union’s convention also elected Anand Muni, a CPB officer, to Greenwald’s former position. He “has a been a part of NTEU’s successful efforts to improve working conditions, increase benefits and win greater protections for CBP employees,” the NTEU said.

While the NTEU is based in the IRS, it also represents employees of more than 30 other agencies.
