OMB has launched an interactive map showing progress on its center consolidation initiative as part of the White House’s 25-point implementation plan to reform IT management.
It said that as of April 27, 39 data centers had been shut down and projects a total of 137 to be closed by the end of the calendar year.
The 25-point plan also requires agencies to identify three must-move services and create a project plan for migrating them to cloud solutions (through which computing resources and software are provisioned over a network) and retiring legacy systems.
OMB has launched a cloud migration list showing three services each agency belonging to the federal CIO council will move entirely online by June 2012.
