Federal Manager's Daily Report

OMB has released a concept of operations for its Data.gov platform, launched last May as part of a White House "open government" initiative and intended to increase access to agency data.

The platform launched with 47 sets of data and has expanded to over 118,000, something OMB said could help spur economic, scientific and educational innovation by making it easier to build applications, conduct analysis, and perform research.

The key principles that OMB wants feedback on and that contribute to the website’s functionality include a focus on access to original data, an open platform to facilitate the development of third-party tools, the utilization of user feedback, and the use of information management best practices.
